The length of one side of a square is √58 inches. What is the area of the square? A. 7.6 in2 B. 58 in2 C. 29 in2 D. 3364 in2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know how to find the area of a square already?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A = a^2 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Since a square has equal sides, both the length and the width will be the same measurement. Therefore take the side length provided and square root it, and you should have the area.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the way to find the area for ALL boxes, whether rectangle or square, is going to be length times width. a square has 4 sides the same so... it would be length times length or length^2. you are right!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry, I mean square it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a really good thing to remember, squaring a square root cancels the squareroot.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, so what equation would i use? i'm a more visual person.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I need a sort of example

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you already answered it! but i will draw something for ya
