HELP!! Determine the total surface area of a right truncated triangular prism with the following definitions: Let the corners of the triangular base be defined by A, B, and C. The length AB = 10 ft., BC = 9 ft., and CA = 12ft. The sides A, B, and C are perpendicular to the triangular base and have the height of 8.6 ft, 7.1 ft. and 5.5 ft. respectively.
@ECEstudent9405 can you help me?
I haven't encountered a right truncated triangular prism yet. I'm only a first year. but let me try solving it.
thanks man
you know how to solve the area of a triangle given its three sides right?
yes
is the area of the base is 44.03 ft^2 ? tell me if I'm wrong
got the same answer
good
next we'll proceed to the one side of the prism.
yes yes
yes yes its 1/2 * (a+b)h right?
100
ok good
now we need to get the other side. because it is the side of the triangle above.
do you know a way to solve that missing side?
yah yah

wait, I'm really sorry. we need to get back from the lateral side. the edge must not be 12. it must be 7.1 right?
sorry for confusing you. I haven't sleep yet. kinda busy in my programming project. but do you get the idea on how to solve the prism?
1st -> solve for the area of the base. 2nd -> solve for the areas of each lateral faces which is in the shape of a trapezoid. 3rd -> while solving for the area of the trapezoid(lateral face), solve for the value of the missing side which you will use in the future to get the area of the triangle on top of the prism. 4th -> once you've solved for the areas of the lateral faces, lower base, and upper base. simply add it all to get the total surface area
