So what happens to a negatively charged conductor when you attach it to the ground?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Electrons flow from the conductor to the ground until the positive and negative charges balance each other, making the conductor neutral.

The ground is always treated to be at zero potential. A negatively charged plate is at a low electric potential( negative potential ) when compared to the ground. Electrons move from a region at low electric potential to a region at high electric potential. So, the electrons move down to the ground. The flow of electrons to the ground continues till both the plate and the ground reach the same potential( in this case zero potential ). This process is called grounding.

No sucede nada,la masa es negativa y el conductor es negativo
