How were the actions of the United States government different than those of other nations during World War II? Are the suspensions of civil liberties tolerable during time of war?
They are not civil liberties, they are God given rights. And if the nation suspends them then the nation offers nothing the people should fight for. That may be why the nation has to hire so many mercenaries to conduct its current atrocities in the middle east.
The US adopted the concept of total war when it finally joined Europe and fought in the Pacific. One of the things it did in that regard was to allow women into the factories to help support the war effort, rationed "strategic materials", and encouraged the purchase of war bonds among other initiatives. As for the suspension of civil liberties, martial law is, ideally, meant to impose control over a potentially dangerous area, usually to enforce order when there are no other alternatives. For example, in areas where a state of emergency is declared (such as in parts of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina), curfews, checkpoints, and strict control are called in when civil services have collapsed to prevent things like looting and general chaos caused by the aftermath.
Thank you so much it makes sense to me now lol! I really appreciate it! <3
