I read the book ages ago, I have forgotten most of it, but A seems the most logical. A. He doesn't like traveling on the river but does so anyway. If he doesn't like travelling on a river that is his desire. (His desire is not to travel on river.) Yet he still does, showing he must be acting on something else, such as morals.
