Which of the following ocean-floor features is associated with areas where oceanic crust is broken down? Abyssal plain Mid-ocean ridge Trench Seamount

OpenStudy (naturesweetie):

Abyssal plain is an underwater plan.... Mid-ocean ridge is the underwater mountain system which contributes to the areas of crust that create the levels of the floor and participate is ocean floor movement... Trenches are the deepest parts of the ocean... A seamount is a mountain rising from the bottom of the ocean.... oceanic crust is broken down obviously at the bottom of the ocean.. The mid-ocean ridge and trench both can change the composition of the sea floor correct? From there I would check back to your book... Hope I didn't mess up on any of the info!! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its seamount

OpenStudy (naturesweetie):

What section in your course is this from? Are you working on sea floor spreading or continental drift?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oceans.

OpenStudy (naturesweetie):

Well continental crust is formed by sea floor spreading and is destroyed by collisions correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ye

OpenStudy (naturesweetie):

Seamounts are mountains so I wouldn't choose that answer... That leaves three that could be possible...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:(

OpenStudy (naturesweetie):

Mid ocean ridges create and renew ocean floor... I am not sure they destroy it though... For when the old ocean floor goes away it is placed back into the mantle I believe so recycled I would say not destroyed

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ill help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yay his on :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

trench

OpenStudy (naturesweetie):

Trench I agree

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you ill be posting more :)))))))))))))))))))

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cause of the oceanic crust

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yw

OpenStudy (naturesweetie):

At a trench is where the different boundaries are and the collisions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

exactly lol you can learn something everyday

OpenStudy (naturesweetie):

Yup :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol
