Hello I am currently doing an EEI in my physics class and we had to make a circuit. I made a 3 LED chaser and when I went to record the Voltage and the amps of what the 6V battery is producing. I got 6.12V? Can someone explain the reasoning behind this increase in volts over the theoretical value of 6V and what this is called?

Hi! I don't have a name for it... But batteries always do this. When they're fresh, they start out above the described voltage. The voltage will then decrease to a little bit below the described voltage. For your battery, I think 6V should be the average over it's use. The battery could get to a lower voltage. I think the reasoning for this lies within the chemistry of the battery. I imagine it could be attributed to a decrease in reactants.

Thankyou very much.
