help please?

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

can u guys help?

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

Bernard is realizing that his dimensions are not fitting the way that he wants it to because he forgot about the deck. The deck is going to be a rectangular space that borders the pool. Also, for the pool to fit just right there must be a special product represented when either the area or volume expressions are determined. He wants you to design your own rectangular pool using polynomial expressions, including the deck to borders the pool. Include a diagram or sketch of your pool and deck. Your diagram must have all dimensions represented with polynomials and ensure that a special product will be used.

sorry.. I don't have the time for that.:(

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Do you have any conditions about the width area or any measurements of the deck ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry bro. No idea

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

This is the data i have so far:

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

Task 1 Create expressions to represent the dimensions of the pool. a. Create a variable to represent the width of the pool. Determine the expressions to represent length and the depth in terms of the width variable. L = Length W = Width D = Depth A = Area V = Volume L = 6W + 6 D = 5L – 31 Dimensions: (6W + 6)(W)(5L - 31) b. Determine the polynomial expression to represent the area of land space that the pool will cover. W - (6W + 6) --> -5W + 6 5(6W + 6) - 31 --> 30W + 30 - 31 --> 30W - 1 c. Using the area and the depth expressions, determine the polynomial expression that is used to represent the volume. A = LW A = (6W + 6)W A = 6W^2 + 6W V = LWD V = AD V = (6W^2 + 6W)[2(6W + 6) - 7] V = (6W^2 + 6W)(30W - 1) d. Classify the volume polynomial by degree and number of terms. The degree of the polynomial is 2 and the number of terms is 4.

Forgot how to do this, @undeadknight26, sorry :-(.

@ranga @jigglypuff314 @AccessDenied

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

erm, I'm not sure what you want... but if it's to check work in part B W - (6W + 6) -/-> -5W + 6 --> W - 6W - 6 (don't forget to distribute the negative :) )

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

oh...okay thanks lol this is what i need...a diagram or sketch of your pool and deck. Your diagram must have all dimensions represented with polynomials and ensure that a special product will be used.

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

isn't a pool like a rectangular prism?|dw:1395260953467:dw|

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

yup...

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

then what don't you understand? :/

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

don;t i have to do something with the polynomials?

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

you would label the sides and areas, I think?

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

so how would u do that?

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

erm... whoops, I think that's what I kinda did for ya XD

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

-_- don;t u label them with polynomial stuff though?

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

polynomials would be the letters stuff... like "L" is a polynomial...

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

OHHH!

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

yeah :P I had always thought "polynomial" meant that is had to have more than one term http://www.mathsisfun.com/algebra/polynomials.html but apparently not :)

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

i see thanks man!!!

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

Glad I could help :)
