ONE MEDAL!! What were Bolivar's chief objections to Spanish rule? What difficulties did Bolivar see in achieving stable and unified independencehe desired? Is the question of women of Latin America spoken to? Why or why not?
1) What was Simon Bolivar's view of human nature? Good question, only statements of what he was taught and his actions are easy to find. He mostly believed in "many of the evolutionist, social, and racial theories of the time[1]" but obviously he had his own opinions about particular situations, such as the governance of Colombia. He must have believed that man was happier living freely as he was anti-slavery and believed in rule by the people as in the United States of North America. 2) What form of government did Simon Bolivar believe was ideal? He believed in government as practiced in the United States of North America; however he did not see this kind of government as practical for Latin America. Because of vice, tyranny and corruption, Latin America required a dictatorship[1]. 3) Did Simon Bolivar believe that people could be trusted to govern? No, not at least for people in Latin America. He wanted to be President for life--so he wouldn't have trusted anyone else with the job. It is apparent that he believed that some(the elites) classes of people were able to do so, and others, because of corruption, could not be trusted. 4) Who aided Simon Bolivar and helped him take control of the central plains and move west to new Granada? Alexandre Pétion, Haiti[2]. 5) How did Thomas Jefferson influence Simon Bolivar? Bolívar admired the North American government and to a point copied it; but concessions had to be made to allow for the special circumstances of Latin America[1]. 1. There was little respect for the liberal ideas of freedom. 2. There was a lot of corruption. 3. There was a lot of tyranny.
