Simplify the expression. 3 • 7 • 23 A. 84 B. 168 C. 21 D. 42

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ummm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

none of the above?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats not how it look on my paper the 3 is smaller and next to the 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

An exponent of 3 maybe? In that case, it would look like 3*7*(2^3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which would be 21*(8)

OpenStudy (nirmalnema):

168

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks what does the small 3 mean

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's an exponent, meaning you multiply the number under it by itself that many times

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2^3 = 2*2*2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh and if it is a negative exponent, like 2^(-3), you would have 1/(2*2*2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or just 1/(2^3) if you want to keep it that way
