What would be your first step in solving –3x > 0?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A: Mulitply both sides by -3 and flip the sign B: Divide both sides by -3 and flip the sign C: Multiply both sides by 3 and flip the sign D: Divide both sides by 3 and flip the sign

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Any time you divide or multiply both sides by a negative number, you flip the sign

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And in this case, you want to get rid of the coefficient in front of x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If x is currently being multipliedy something, to "cancel" that out, and isolate the variable x, you do the opposite of what's creating the relationship between x and the given number, so... To undo multiplication— divide :)

So you want to divide by -3 to make it just x on that side, and 0 is unchanged

Thanks alot:)
