8x+6 and 7x+9
what exactly are you doing, adding those two?
factoring
can u switch the 9 and 6 postion?

@SolomonZelman tell me if this is rite? Solution for 8x+9=7x+6 equation: Simplifying 8x + 9 = 7x + 6 Reorder the terms: 9 + 8x = 7x + 6 Reorder the terms: 9 + 8x = 6 + 7x Solving 9 + 8x = 6 + 7x Solving for variable 'x'. Move all terms containing x to the left, all other terms to the right. Add '-7x' to each side of the equation. 9 + 8x + -7x = 6 + 7x + -7x Combine like terms: 8x + -7x = 1x 9 + 1x = 6 + 7x + -7x Combine like terms: 7x + -7x = 0 9 + 1x = 6 + 0 9 + 1x = 6 Add '-9' to each side of the equation. 9 + -9 + 1x = 6 + -9 Combine like terms: 9 + -9 = 0 0 + 1x = 6 + -9 1x = 6 + -9 Combine like terms: 6 + -9 = -3 1x = -3 Divide each side by '1'. x = -3 Simplifying x = -3
Yes, it's right, but you could have done this much simpler.
I still do not understand the question....are you setting them equal to each other and solving for x or what ?
@how?
are you trying to set them equal to each other and solve for x ??
ignore the @
yes @texaschic101
8x + 9 = 7x + 6 -- subtract 9 from both sides 8x + 9 - 9 = 7x + 6 - 9 -- combine like terms 8x = 7x - 3 -- subtract 7x from both sides 8x - 7x = 7x - 7x - 3 -- combine like terms x = -3 check.. 8x + 9 = 7x + 6 8(-3) + 9 = 7(-3) + 6 -24 + 9 = -21 + 6 -15 = -15 (correct)
Yes @texaschic101
any questions ?
Nope thanks :) @texaschic101
sure thing :)
