I really need help with this French. Any help would be appreciated. Réponds avec une phrase complète en français et utilise un pronom objet direct dans la réponse. The direct object has been bolded. 1) Est-ce que tu as pris les livres ce matin? 2) Est-ce que vous avez visité les musées à Paris pendant les vacances? 3) Est-ce que tu as étudié la leçon hier? 4) Où est-ce que tu as mis la voiture hier? 5) Est-ce que Pauline a perdu sa raquette?
Can you tell us where it is bolded?
Yes I can, sorry about that.
Answer the questions below with complete sentences in French, and use a pronoun for the direct object in your answer. The direct objects have been bracketed. 1) Est-ce que tu as pris [les livres] ce matin? 1T: Did you bring [the books] this morning? 2) Est-ce que vous avez visité [les musées à Paris] pendant les vacances? 2T: Did you visit [the museums in Paris] during the holiday? 3) Est-ce que tu as étudié [la leçon] hier? 3T: Did you study [your lesson] yesterday? 4) Où est-ce que tu as mis [la voiture] hier? 4T: Where did you put [your car] yesterday? 5) Est-ce que Pauline a perdu [sa raquette]? 5T: Did Pauline lose [her racket]?
The purpose of this exercise is to familiarize yourself with le passé composé (the composed past tense)
To form the passé composé, two components are required: 1. the auxiliary verb 2. the past participle (le participle passé)
The auxiliary verb is "avoir" (to have) for normal verbs, and "être" (to be) for verbs that indicate motion.
Could you please show me in number one how you would rewrite it then?
For example: Let's compose the sentence "You ate some bread" in French.
The pronoun is "tu"
The auxiliary verb will be "avoir", conjugate it to become "tu as".
The past participle of "eat" will be "mangé"
Therefore the sentence is "Tu as mangé du pain."
Get it?
Yes I understand it now. Thank you :)
Do you have any questions? Asking questions is a useful way of learning.
Not at the moment. I am just trying to process all this information, lol.
Can I help you?
Or maybe you want to refer to the website that I have just given you? Voulez-vous peut-être voir le site web que je vous ai envoyé?
okay, I will try that. My main problem right now is I went from being in a french class to having to be switched online. So there is like a big gap of some information I just do not know or learned yet.
Do you have the exact information that you missed? I may be able to help you with my knowledge
1) Est-ce que tu as pris [les livres] ce matin? 1T: Did you bring [the books] this morning? so with this question I would reply with either yes or know i brought the books/ no i did not bring the book?
Yes
*no
okay thank you :)
and as for the information no not exactly, I moved states and the school did not offer french as a class. Online was my only option, and so now I am having to teach myself.
Have you memorized all the conjugated forms of "avoir" (to have)? Est-ce que tu te souviens toutes les formes conjuguées du verbe "avoir"?
Yes, I learned all the basic stuff in french 1
Glad to hear that. Ca me fait plaisir.
I am sorry to have to cut our discussion short, but my online class ends soon so I have to go. Again thank you so much for your help! :)
It's fine. Wish you luck in your future study! Pas de problème. Je vous souhaite le meilleur!
The answer to the first one is either: Oui, je les ai pris. or: Non, je ne les ai pas pris. In these sentences, the past participle has an object coming sooner in the sentence, so it has to agree with the object. Est-ce que tu as vu ta soeur hier ? Oui, je l'ai vuE. Because l' (for soeur) is before the verb.
And as you have just seen, the pronoun object comes before the conjugated "avoir".
