How do ppl become an ambassador ?
By answering a lot of questions and helping people and leveling up.
Hi, Ambassadors are representatives of OpenStudy. We answer questions from new users. We welcome and greet users. It's our job to be the embodiment of OpenStudy's ideologies. Before I go any further, there are strict requirements you must meet. ◘ Be thirteen or older ◘ Have a form of ID - excluding a birth certificate ◘ Have no serious offenses on your record ◘ If you have serious offenses, an additional process may be required ◘ Have read the Code of Conduct and Terms, and understand the rules Do you meet these requirements? If so, then please read the next part of the process. There are some key behaviors that Ambassadors must express ◘ As an Ambassador, you agree to always be kind and understanding ◘ As an Ambassador you should let users know you appreciate them ◘ Congratulate and award positive behavior, and discourage negative behavior ◘ Lead by example! ◘ Respect the staff - never talk ill of OpenStudy ◘ Never disclose personal information if shared with you Do you feel like Ambassadorship is something you would want to do? Do you want a bright future with OpenStudy? Then become an Ambassador! [NOTE: The application, or form, is often subject to change. A message will be posted in either the Ambassador Group or OpenStudy Feedback with details on how to submit an application] You can contact @e.mccormick , @thomaster , @blues or @bostonblue for additional Ambassador opportunities. \[ \begin{array}l\color{red}{\text{[}}\color{red}{\text{[}}\color{red}{\text{W}}\color{red}{\text{E}}\color{red}{\text{ }}\color{red}{\text{A}}\color{red}{\text{R}}\color{red}{\text{E}}\color{red}{\text{ }}\color{red}{\text{C}}\color{red}{\text{U}}\color{red}{\text{R}}\color{red}{\text{R}}\color{red}{\text{E}}\color{red}{\text{N}}\color{red}{\text{T}}\color{red}{\text{L}}\color{red}{\text{Y}}\color{red}{\text{ }}\color{red}{\text{N}}\color{red}{\text{O}}\color{red}{\text{T}}\color{red}{\text{ }}\color{red}{\text{A}}\color{red}{\text{C}}\color{red}{\text{C}}\color{red}{\text{E}}\color{red}{\text{P}}\color{red}{\text{T}}\color{red}{\text{I}}\color{red}{\text{N}}\color{red}{\text{G}}\color{red}{\text{ }}\color{red}{\text{A}}\color{red}{\text{P}}\color{red}{\text{P}}\color{red}{\text{L}}\color{red}{\text{I}}\color{red}{\text{C}}\color{red}{\text{A}}\color{red}{\text{T}}\color{red}{\text{I}}\color{red}{\text{O}}\color{red}{\text{N}}\color{red}{\text{S}}\color{red}{\text{]}}\color{red}{\text{]}}\color{red}{\text{}}\end{array} \] \(\bf\Large\color{#00B4ff}{Open}\color{#7cc517}{Study}\color{}{}\color{#872af0}{~~Ⓐ}\color{#478903}{}\)
Oh cool really and i guess you become an ex ambassador by being caught violating a rule
LOLOLOLOL WHAT DID HE DO!!!?? LOLOL
Heres a medal elisa *high fives*
Lol this girl was on chat and when i heard she was an ex ambassador i though that was so funny lol but she didnt say what she did
Oh thank you
Some Ambassadors are honorably discharged, dishonorably discharged, quit, or are relieved of their duties. Not many Ambassadors become an ex-Ambassador because they violated the rules. Only a minority do.
wow thats sad they get removed against will sometimes
It's a useless title I think.
Yes, sometimes it happens @iambatman , Ambassadors do a lot of work behind the scenes.
oh you were mistaken elisa, the person you were talking to in the chats was "honorably discharged" as in that a while ago, OpenStudy revised the Ambassador program, and was re selecting all it's ambis, the old ones could re-apply if they wanted to, but if they did not, then they were discharged. not necessarily that they broke any rules :)
I don't believe you @Compassionate, all you have to do is be nice from what I see, there's no benefits in it, other than giving your id and having forced to follow the rules of the site even if some might not be that good.
Hey @jigglypuff314 your an ambassador now :)
Indeed :)
coool lol you eve wrote the date
@iambatman , there's a lot more to it than that.
Well with what you put up to become an Ambi, it seems like everyone who has a SS of at least 60 should be able to become one (all 60+ SS I know are nice, and respectful), but it's the id that gets to people, theres no anonymity which was the whole point of the website to begin with, and it shows they obviously don't trust the users enough to give them this certain "title" because their actions aren't enough, they have to no the face behind the user.
know*
I won't be having this conversation here on @ElisaNeedsHelp 's post. If you want to discuss it further, than feel free to message me.
No, it's alright, you never give sufficient answers anyways other than "There's more to it" which makes me believe what I say is correct. But eh, I thought I'd let the OP know, it's not about being an ambi. that's important, it's about helping other users.
oooo now that's something I agree with ^_^ even if I was denied ambi position, I would definitely still be around to help people :)
@ElisaNeedsHelp Over time, quite a long time, there have been over 50 ambassadors. With the old program being closed for revamping and opening with a mix of new and old applicants, there are a smaller number. This means there are actually several former Ambassadors that simply have become inactive or chose not to apply under the new system. @iambatman There are benefits to the training program and there are former ambassadors that have used it as a talking point on resumes and in interviews. As for the ID, this is for legal reasons. We know there are people that have lied about their age to get onto the site. Since COPPA violations can run into the millions of dollars in fines, the site wants to be 100% sure that the Ambassadors are not a COPPA violation. And that is just one legal issue it addresses. Also, if a person uses it as a reference, OpenStudy will be contacted about this using the name of the person. By having their ID, they have the full name that would be used in any job application, college application, etc.
The ambi program seems unnecessary with what you said then, obviously there will be users under the age of 13, you can't stop that, it's the internet after all. I also keep hearing about its benefits but I still don't see what the benefits are/ any use of it. People may use it for a resume but I doubt that will help them to get the job in all honesty, it would most likely go into the miscellaneous section. Even if they are putting it on resume, they are probably older than 13, and so if lets say I put OS on a resume for a job, or used it for a reference and OS got a call about all my information I provided via email, I would get declined by OS because they don't have a id of me saying I'm not over 13, yet I've helped as many users as ambis or know more about certain subjects then some of them?
If you have ever looked at a scholarship application, many want an example of how you have volunteered in a leadership position. The Ambassador program qualifies as this, as opposed to simply tutoring people on the site. While you may not see any use for Ambassadors, several others do. If there are users below 13 that become detected, the accounts must be banned. It is a very serious issue and failure to do so puts OpenStudy at risk. Look at what has happened to other companies for COPPA violations: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Children%27s_Online_Privacy_Protection_Act
