WILL MEDAL+FAN!!!!6 GRADE SCIENCE QUESTIONS~5~QUESTIONS! @ganeshie8 @whpalmer4 @abb0t @AravindG @TuringTest Please I know not all of you are going to help but who ever can please help!

OpenStudy (rebeccapink6398):

QUESTION~1~Which describes the mineral's luster? A. hexagonal B. orthogonal C. cubic D. rhombic

OpenStudy (rebeccapink6398):

QUESTION~2~Which determines the chemical properties of minerals? A. luster B. cleavage C. type of atoms D. crystal shape

OpenStudy (rebeccapink6398):

QUESTION~3~To correctly classify a rock as igneous, sedimentary, or metamorphic, what would a geologist need to know? A. how the rock formed B. the hardness of the rock C. how the rock breaks apart D. color of the rock

OpenStudy (rebeccapink6398):

QUESTION~4~Which turns metamorphic and sedimentary rocks into igneous rock? A. compaction and cementation B. melting and cooling C. pressure and heat D. weathering and erosion

OpenStudy (rebeccapink6398):

QUESTION~5~Which is characteristic of a mineral? A. It must be crystalline and have an indefinite chemical composition. B. It must be amorphous and have a definite chemical composition. C. It must be crystalline and have a definite chemical composition. D. It must be amorphous and have an indefinite chemical composition.

OpenStudy (rebeccapink6398):

I have 15 question.... and I failed my first try to pass the test

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

the first question's answer choices have nothing to do with the question, AFAICT

OpenStudy (rebeccapink6398):

???

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

QUESTION~1~Which describes the mineral's luster? hexagonal, orthogonal, cubic, rhombic None of those words are used to describe the mineral's luster. AFAICT: as far as I can tell

OpenStudy (rebeccapink6398):

awe :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

no, that would be "aw" — "awe" is a different word entirely... terms to describe mineral luster include, but are not limited to: adamantine, dull, greasy, metallic, pearly, resinous, silky, submetallic, vitreous, waxy

OpenStudy (rebeccapink6398):

LOL thx for the correction! :P

OpenStudy (rebeccapink6398):

OK...so I don't get number 1 :(

OpenStudy (rebeccapink6398):

@whpalmer4 ?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

It isn't a matter of "getting it" — those answer choices don't apply to that question. Someone has made a mistake, I don't know if it is you, or the test writer, or whoever else might have had a hand in it.

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

I just told you that we have no basis for talking about question 1, at least not if you have to select an answer from the choices given. I did give you a list of terms which are used for luster. However, there's a picture attached to that question. Are you certain that "luster" is the word that appears before the question mark?

OpenStudy (rebeccapink6398):

yes. I copied and pasted it...I didn't write it in

OpenStudy (rebeccapink6398):

..ok nvm about that ill talk to my teacher... what about questions 2~4?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

QUESTION~2~Which determines the chemical properties of minerals? A. luster B. cleavage C. type of atoms D. crystal shape Okay, does it make sense that the appearance of a mineral could determine its chemical properties?

OpenStudy (rebeccapink6398):

no? I donw know what that means

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Let me ask you a question: how are you supposed to learn this material? Do you have a textbook?

OpenStudy (rebeccapink6398):

well....not really.... I don't have a science book like school does but I have a work book w some reading material

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

That doesn't exactly answer my question: I'm sure you are not expected to magically know the answers to these questions, and that somehow, the knowledge is supposed to be transferred to you. It seems like it hasn't happened, and I'm wondering if there's a chapter you need to read, or a lecture to watch, or what.

OpenStudy (rebeccapink6398):

i give up on school...nvm bye

OpenStudy (anonymous):

flutter all

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i need help with that to please help

@Elsa213

@marie123

OpenStudy (anonymous):

number one is A and whpalmer4 really!?!?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

@aubreebethune No, number one is not A if the question is Which describes the mineral's luster? and A is hexagonal hexagonal in the context of a mineral means that the crystalline arrangement is hexagonal. As I said, the list of answer choices provided for question one is obviously not the correct set, as all of the choices describe crystal patterns, and have nothing to do with luster, which is a gentle sheen or soft glow. If you are trying to take me to task for expecting the OP to actually do some work, rather than have the answers fed to her, I refer you to the OpenStudy Code of Conduct at http://openstudy.com/code-of-conduct, which prominently states: "Give Help, Not Answers"
