Question

I need to find a word that finishes this sentence! It should be the opposite of combination. I don't know why I can't think of a word. If you could, that would be awesome!

There is no point in a periodic table of compounds because we already have a periodic table of the elements that make up the compounds. If we had a table of compounds, it would be very large because there are more compounds than elements. That is because compounds are combinations of elements. Combinations have many more possibilities than... (?)
