Convert the equation to polar form. \[5x=5y\]

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

\(\bf x=rcos(\theta)\qquad y=rsin(\theta) \\ \quad \\ 5x=5y\implies x=y\implies rcos(\theta)=rsin(\theta)\implies r[cos(\theta)-sin(\theta)]=0\) what do you think?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, I got to that but.. This online program says its wrong. Idk what the answer would be.

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

so.. what did you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got that same r(costheta - sintheta)=0

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

I'd think that'd give r = 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its incorrect :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why do you think that gives just r=0? Think about the line x=y, what are the properties of this lines in terms of radius and angle with respect to the origin?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I honestly do not know how to go about this anymore.
