If a line contains the x-intercept 5 and the y-intercept −1, find the slope m of any perpendicular line.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

m=-5

OpenStudy (shamim):

u hv 2 points (5,0) and (0,-1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if the y intercept is -1 and x is 5, then the slope of that line is rise/run=1/5. a line that is perpendicular to that will be the opposite reciprocal which is -5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

draw out what that graph looks like

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There is no graph. I just have to find M.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can draw the graph by looking at shamim's post. he has given you the two points. draw a line connecting those two points and see what it looks like and my earlier comment will make more sense

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Omg, it won't let me draw it on here, but I drew it in my notebook.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now what is the slope of the line you drew? i would draw it but i dont have a mouse with me. note: m=rise/run
