Is 5 part of the solution set for the inequality five times w is greater than or equal to thirty? Why or why not?
@hoblos
five times w is greater than or equal to thirty 5w >= 30 so you have this inequality 5w >= 30 replace w by 5, what do you get ?
what i am confused
I hate math
do you know how to solve 5w >= 30 ??
we have \[5 \times w\] if we put 5 in the place of w, what will we get ?
I think u divide 30 by 5
correct....and what do you get when you divide 30 by 5 ?
6
so is 5 part of the solution ?
yes
I thought 6 was the solution.....are you sure 5 is part of the solution ? Think carefully
ok now i get u then multiply 5 x 6 u get 30
the solution is 6. It is not 5. All hablos was doing was having you sub in 5 for w to see if it satisfied the inequality. It does not, and is therefore, not part of the solution
oh
now im confused
when solved... 5w >= 30 -- divide by 5 w >= 30/5 w >= 6 the solutions would be any number greater or equal to 6
do you understand that ?
how is 5 not part of the sloution
5w >= 30 -- the solution is what w equals. Lets sub in 5 for w and see if it makes the inequality true. 5(5) > = 30 25 >= 30 Is this true or false ?? Is 25 greater or equal to 30 ? No, it is not...it is less then, therefore, it is false and is not a solution
no but 5 x 6 = 30
@HelpBlahBlahBlah
5 id not the solution...5 is just a number in the problem
oops..typo...IS not the solution
just tell me how 5 is not in the solution
I just showed you... 5w >= 30 if you sub in 5 for w 5(5) >= 30 25 >= 30 (incorrect) It does not satisfy the inequality and is therefore, not a solution
ok thanks
