Here are some questions to consider: What nation are you fighting for? Why did you decide to fight for your nation? Was fighting in the war what you expected? Are you able to effectively fight against your enemy? Why or why not? What have you seen, heard, and smelled in the trenches? What do you know about the enemy? What are your goals if you make it out alive? How are you passing the time? What would you like to tell your family or the citizens of the nation that you are fighting for?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol I will help you if you help me ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

help you w/ what ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

People should not have to go through fighting in a war to earn respect from their country. There are other ways to earn respect so that's kind of sad. However, if one had to have a reason to show respect to someone they don't know, that would be a good one. Personally, I find it unfortunate that there are so many people in this country so highly respected having done nothing respectable to earn it but be born with money or behave like animals or some such nonsense, but maybe that's just me.

In the case of Iraq, we aren't fighting for our country. They didn't attack us so therefore, we are started the war there. (All those going to give me a thumbs down, Osama Bin Laden and his minions are from Saudi Arabia - totally different country).

World War I was an extremely bloody war that engulfed Europe from 1914 to 1919, with huge losses of life and little ground lost or won. Fought mostly by soldiers in trenches, World War I saw an estimated 10 million military deaths and another 20 million wounded. While many hoped that World War I would be "the war to end all wars," in actuality, the concluding peace treaty set the stage for World War II.

World War I (WWI or WW1), also known as the First World War, was a global war centred in Europe that began on 28 July 1914 and lasted until 11 November 1918. From the time of its occurrence until the approach of World War II, it was called simply the World War or the Great War, and thereafter the First World War or World War I.[5][6][7] In America, it was initially called the European War.[8] More than 9 million combatants were killed; a casualty rate exacerbated by the belligerents' technological and industrial sophistication, and tactical stalemate. It was one of the deadliest conflicts in history, paving the way for major political changes, including revolutions in many of the nations involved.[9] The war drew in all the world's economic great powers,[10] which were assembled in two opposing alliances: the Allies (based on the Triple Entente of the United Kingdom, France and the Russian Empire) and the Central Powers of Germany and Austria-Hungary. Although Italy had also been a member of the Triple Alliance alongside Germany and Austria-Hungary, it did not join the Central Powers, as Austria-Hungary had taken the offensive against the terms of the alliance.[11] These alliances were both reorganised and expanded as more nations entered the war: Italy, Japan and the United States joined the Allies, and the Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria the Central Powers. Ultimately, more than 70 million military personnel, including 60 million Europeans, were mobilised in one of the largest wars in history.[12][13] Although a resurgence of imperialism was an underlying cause, the immediate trigger for war was the June 28, 1914 assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria, heir to the throne of Austria-Hungary, by Yugoslav nationalist Gavrilo Princip in Sarajevo. This set off a diplomatic crisis when Austria-Hungary delivered an ultimatum to the Kingdom of Serbia,[14][15] and international alliances formed over the previous decades were invoked. Within weeks, the major powers were at war and the conflict soon spread around the world.
