OpenStudy (xmoses1):

Using your own words, explain direct and inverse proportionality...

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

I can't do it because my words are different from your words.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

I can give you a little help, but then you need to come up with your own words to explain it more completely.

OpenStudy (xmoses1):

haha that is ok i just need the basic idea and then i can answer it :P

OpenStudy (xmoses1):

OK :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Direct proportionality = the harder you throw a rock at your math teacher's head, the more it will hurt him/her. Inverse proportionality = the harder you throw a rock at your math teacher's head, the less your grade will be.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Direct proportionality means that as one thing goes up, the other thing also goes up. For example, let's say at a bookstore, a certain book costs $10. As you buy more and more of these books, the price goes up and up. The cost of the books is directly proportional to how many books you buy.

OpenStudy (xmoses1):

Ok that makes sense. And that is a funny definition @AngusV lol

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Inverse proportionality is the more one thing goes up, the more the other thing goes down. For example, let's say you're walking. The faster you walk, the less time it will take you. In this case, as the speed goes up, the time goes down.

OpenStudy (xmoses1):

Oh i get it now thanks @mathstudent55. No i can put it into my own words lol
