What steps do I need to take to get into an ivy league school? I am an eighth grader currently

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

I have a couple simple tips for you. First, make sure you get excellent grades. As good as you can possibly make them. Second, make sure you get to know your teachers and academic advisors. They will be writing letters of recommendation for you, and the better they know you, the better the letters will be.

also, it is good to join lots of extra curricular stuff; clubs, sports, etc... it looks good on resumes. another thing is to do a lot of volunteer service hours. depending on what field you want to go into, you do service based on that. For example, if you want to get into ivy league for the Medical field, I suggest helping out at nursing homes. they also look for what you do with what you learned so far, and they look for character traits; organization, honesty, hardworking....

and if you are currently an 8th grader, you can apply for the IB program for high schools. It looks VERY good on college resumes, and will increase your likelihood of getting into ivy league schools. It is only available in certain high schools, so keep an eye out for it.

I wish you good luck with your future! :D

If you get a D or F in any course, you might as well apply to a community college because ivy leagues will not tolerate that. Especially if it's in a non-AP course.

I know of a few people that got into Ivy League schools with a bad high school record. They are very rare, but do exist. How they made it came down to two things: 1) Be so amazing in some other way that the old record was ignored. 2) Do so well in a community college that they transfer off of that and not high school. Sometimes people just used the first, but most used both. If you can not guarantee that you will have those two things in your favor, it is best to do very well in high school, be involved in a few extra activities, make sure you have something that demonstrates leadership skills, and come up with a very clear goal of what you want to be and exactly how the school you are looking at will help you achieve that goal with excellence. Oh, and how you do well in any school is to develop good study habits that work to your strengths and help you tackle your weaknesses.

get good grades do a lot of extracurricular activities and have leadership positions like president or something. and join a few clubs too. and take honors and ap classes (but dont overload!)

Be yourself! Everyone loves a genuine person! Essays are crucial, depending on the Ivy-League you go for. Standardized testing is also huge. Like previously stated, it's generally good to have good ECs! Volunteer work is good to have as well. Good luck! (:
