How do i find the percent increased

OpenStudy (anonymous):

depends on what you question is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what's the question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a car model announced the new car model would go up by 3.5%. this years price is 19,159

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have to find the percent increased and the new price

OpenStudy (amistre64):

well, the increase is 3.5% of its current price. the new price is just the current price ... plus the increase :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so how do i do that?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

well. in general ... any number, n, can be divide by 100. That would give us 1% take that 1% and multiply it by how many percents we want to find ... in this case 3.5 of them.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

n/100 = 1% 3.5 * n/100 = 3.5%

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the new price of the car would be 67053?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

lets chk

OpenStudy (amistre64):

no

OpenStudy (amistre64):

670.56 is the increase ...

OpenStudy (amistre64):

so i think you worked the increase, might have lost track of the decimals along the way to get: 670.53

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so thats the increase and then i just add that to the price of this years car?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to find the new price?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you so much!

OpenStudy (amistre64):

youre welcome
