1.In Letter from B Jail, Mlk is claiming equality among human beings. In his fight for equal rights for African americans, he is calling on citizens to fulfill their moral duty to disobey the unjust laws of segregation, as 'injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere" and all the members of society should be able to enjoy their "god given rights" as they are equal before god. In contrast, Vonnegut presents a very cynical view of equality aspirations in his book: obsessions over equality have ruined society' "they were not only equal before god and the law, they were equal in every which way'. People's talents are constrained with artificial handicaps, as imposed by the official Handicapper; for instance, good looking people wear masks so as to not risk being superior. While MLK is nobly advocating natural rights for all humans, Vonnegut satirically portrays a society with a superficial and discordant take on equality.
