In how many different ways can a panel of 12 jurors and 2 alternate jurors be chosen from a group of 28 prospective jurors?

Are you familiar with factorials?

Not really

Basically we need to count the number of groups of 12 we can select from 28 people. After that there will be 16 people remaining. And we'll need to count the number of ways we can select groups of 2 people..the alternates..from those 16 people.

How many groups of 12 can we select from 28? That's called "combinations of 28 taken 12 at a time". Or C(28,12) There's a formula for that. |dw:1395888576450:dw|
