Are the lines 7x – 4y = 3 and x – 4y = 3 parallel, perpendicular, or neither?

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

Can you solve them both for y?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

If you do it puts it in this form y=mx+b, which will be very useful.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes it will

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you fibonacci

OpenStudy (mathmale):

To answer this effectively: determine whether or not the two lines have the same slopes. If YES, the lines could be either (1) parallel or (2) coincidential (one lying right on top of the other). If NO, then (if the two lines are in the same plane), the two lines will intersect in ONE point.

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

np, you got it from there bam?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes : )

OpenStudy (mathmale):

"Neither" would imply that the lines do intersect at one point, provided that both lie in the same plane.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

bam i love u do u have email

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

yay! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wht is it bam

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you very much @mathmale
