Which country supported the Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh? South Korea France the United States the Soviet Union
I think it was South Korea..
answer: (D) the soviet union
@Elise_a18 are you there?
why D? do you know?
Because the soviet union supported Ho chi minh
thanks 4 the medal @timaashorty
By doing some research I also believe it's the soviet union. Why? Looking at this website: http://www.coldwar.org/articles/50s/HoChiMinh.asp It said he found refuge in the soviet union. Which means he felt safe and sheltered from danger. I searched all other countries and they seem like they didn't support him except the Soviet union. I hope I helped. Also, I think if you go over the lesson that goes with this question I'm pretty sure, you'll find the answer, and be more positive about it. (:
Ho Chi Minh was the leader of North Vietnam, which was Communist. Both China and the Soviet Union, Communist countries, provided North Vietnam with plenty of support because they were all more or less opposed to the United States, which was of course trying to topple the regime of North Vietnam in favor of democracy. France had been fighting North Vietnam (of which Ho Chi Minh was in charge!) previously. South Korea was in no position to provide any aid to anyone and was a close US ally, so clearly WOULD NOT be providing any aid to an enemy of the US. Ironically, before the Vietnam War, when the Japanese invaded Vietnam during World War II, the United States supported Ho Chi Minh's resistance against the Japanese. Supposedly an American medic even saved his life at once point.
aiee! D:> so many different answers...
It's either soviet union or the U.S. I'll keep searching though lol
thanks :)
no problem and welcome @shadow22
Do you have any text or something that your teacher gave you about Ho Chi Minh? This is new to me.
Thanks!!
Well I gtg but I would go with the soviet union. Not 100% positive though
Layman's terms then: The United States was fighting North Vietnam in the Vietnam War. Ho Chi Minh was the leader of North Vietnam. North Vietnam was Communist. The United States was (and is) Democratic and was opposed to Communism. The Soviet Union was Communist. They were opposed to the United States, and vice versa. Thus the Soviet Union supported North Vietnam in the Vietnam War because they could hurt the United States by doing so. The United States did not support Ho Chi Minh in the Vietnam war because they were fighting him and his regime. You don't support your enemies in a war.
Makes sense ; well now the answer is obvious (: Soviet union > North Vietnam > Ho Chi Minh
