how can a machine make work easier for you? please answer as soon as possible. thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you mean "work" as in $$w = \int_{a}^{b}{F\cdot d}$$ Say you need to lift a box to a shelf that is 5m high. Say lifting that box takes 10N of force. The "work" you're doing is the work, times the distance. No matter how you get the box to the shelf (ex: walking up a stepladder, throwing the box up to the shelf, etc.) You will be doing the same amount of work. A machine could help you do "work" by reducing the amount of Force required from your body to lift the object. A forklift for example will drastically reduce the amount of force (and therefore work) required to move an extremely heavy object from one end of a warehouse to another. Simply, you make a machine do joules of work instead of you.
