Looking for a math tutor (high school/college graduate) to help me with school three days a week. I'm behind in my math class and I have a short period of time to catch up or else, I fail. I basically need someone who can teach very quick and simple. I'm in 8th grade the math course I take is MS Algebra. Please, only reply if serious. My family is struggling financially so my parents can't afford to get me a tutor. I'm in need of serious help. And if you know any other sites where I can get math help, please refer them to me below. Thanks in advance!

you can ask any of the people on here to help or you can just simply post questions and people will most likely help you

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

and all of openstudy is completely free

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jim_thompson5910 Ok. Thanks!

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

do you have any questions right now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jim_thompson5910 Actually, yes. Are you good with graphing equations? I'm horrible with this stuff. I was wondering if you could explain the whole thing to me maybe give me some examples, if you'd like.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

linear equations?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jim_thompson5910 Yes.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

ok so graphing something like y = 2x + 3

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

what form is that equation in?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jim_thompson5910 I don't know :/

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

have you seen y = mx+b before?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

what does m stand for?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

any ideas?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I guess it's not intuitive, but m stands for the slope

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

b stands for the y-intercept

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so saying y = 2x + 3 means that the slope is 2 and the y-intercept is 3

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

now draw an xy axis or coordinate system |dw:1396133086036:dw|

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

the y-intercept is 3, so the graph crosses the y axis (the vertical axis) at 3 |dw:1396133134259:dw|

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

with me so far?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

or no?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jim_thompson5910 OMG I'm so sorry for replying back so late! My internet went out unexpectedly. I know it's kinda late right now so I was thinking we could work together again tomorrow. If not, Monday is fine.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

ok come back whenever you need to and I should be here to help. If not, then others would be very happy to help as well

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok. Thank you!

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you're welcome, have a great night
