solved.

OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

You can't solve a quadratic equation that way, it's sqrt(10x) instead of sqrt(10)x

OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

No it ain't even sqrt(10x)+10, it's sqrt(10x+10)

OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

sqrt(10x+10) is not the same as sqrt(10)x+sqrt(10)

OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

use the quadratic formula

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

What did you do after you got (x^2 / x+1) = 10^1 ?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I see, you multiplied both sides by x+1 x^2=10x+10

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

if you want to complete the square. x^2=10x+10 subtract 10x from both sides, x^2-10x=10 add 25 to both sides x^2-10x+25=35 AND TAKE IT FROM THERE

OpenStudy (immings):

ok sorry I'm back. Ohhhh okay that makes more sense, I didn't notice to use that

OpenStudy (immings):

Thank you

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

You welcome.
