Does working in anime hinder the talent of an artist?

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

No, you don't need talent to do anything honestly.

Not the question....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

...so what is the question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The question is simple: Does working in anime hinder an artist's talents. Most people say that anime is not art and once your hand gets use to it there is very few other ways you will be telented with art.

Well i dont think that just for practicing anime you can lose your arisitic talents for other kinds of art. the talent of the artist usually lies in their ability to percieve objects in ways that are kinda difficult for others and then translate their vision into art. Crazy art like Picasso and the post-impressionist were not drawying in the most realistic manner but if just any other ordinary person attempted to replicate their art they couldnt do it. Even some people who are genuine artist would have a hard time. Thats kinda how anime and say its opposite which would be like 3-dimensional and have realistic textures and that stuff relate. But if you are wondering if anime begins to dominate the way you see things and draw things then that may be so, but it is the same with every other art. That is why artist throughout history usually just stick to what they usually draw. If you wanted to try realistic and with different techniques and styles im sure you certainly could as an artist. But an artist will persue the painting technique that they can relate with the most and that inspires them the most to use.

No, it does not hinder the talent of the artist. In fact, people can expand their art skills through drawing anime. My friend is a great artist and she does anime all the time. I would consider drawing anime its own talent. hope this helps :D
