In the following lever system, what is the counter-clockwise torque?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and what is the clockwise torque?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

360N*m the coutner clock wise torque is the force on the left that is making the lever turn clockwise. torque is defined as force* distance from fulcrum * sin (theta). the sin in this case is 1 since it is as 90 degrees. thus its just 40 N times 9 meter. 360 N*m.

so the clock wise torque would be....?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

240?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

N*m. yes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:) thank you

no problem.
