How is the idea of common descent supported by examples of homologous structures?

@MylahB Well.. These Homologous structures are those that are similar in form. These support evolution because they indicate that the two species sharing the homologous structure are descended from a common ancestor. For example, the extreme similarities between humans and chimpanzees support the theory that we shared a common ancestor, and then evolved down different paths due to isolation and habitat.
