If the area of a triangle is 48x^2y^4 the base is 4y what is the height? I think I know the answer but I'm not sure if it's 100% correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 24x^2y^3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe it's (12x^2)(y^3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because 48/4 = 12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah thats what I meant. But I'm not sure if I got the exponents right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

exponents are correct :) the exponent of y reduces to 3 when you divide it by y When dividing exponents with the same base subtract :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Good, because I had a test today, and I still have to complete the rest tomorrow, and I got that as an answer and wasn't 100% sure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well congrats you did :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNIEEEEEEEE :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hahah yayay, I probably failed it because I don't know increasing dimensions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh don't say that, you probably did better than you thought you did I think i know that stuff but believe me, there is no guarantee you can get it on your first try :)
