what is salt crystal about

OpenStudy (anonymous):

WELCOME TO OS!! Salt crystals are a mineral that is made mostly of sodium chloride. It really depends on what type of salt crystal it is as to what it is made of. Salt crystals refer to salt grains, which have been allowed to re-crystallize. These crystals obtain a different pyramid form like outline, which is at times slightly seen in the original salt 'cubes, after the re-crystallisation process.'

Salt is pretty interesting. Salt can be broken into the chemical compound Sodium Chloride aka NaCl. In my opinion, NaCl is a beautifully elegant and simple compound. The Ionic bond between Na and Cl are very strong because of the electronegativity. In other words, the sizes of the atoms and the distances between the electrons to their center. Ill tel you a really exciting experiment: first, get a clear glass cup and put a small amount of water, then add some regular table salt keep filling the water until you saturate the H2O, which means you cant dissolve anymore salt.. Place it somewhere and let the water dry naturally. When you come back youll see the NaCl crystals that form on the bottom, and they will have become so much bigger and more vivid, like snowflakes. Its pretty cool, and itll get you pondering...
