Is there anyone out there that can try to help me understand and do proofs better? I have been struggling with them for days now and it doesn't seem to be getting any better.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You talking about in Geometry?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What exactly do you not understand about them?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't understand anything about them, im not sure if its because i need to know the vocab more or what

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol, are you in G1 or G2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

G1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, so by definition, A geometry proof — like any mathematical proof — is an argument that begins with known facts, and continues to prove that (example) ABC = XYZ

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I see

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just don't know how to go about solving a proof or proving anything for a problem.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I say ask your teacher for help or look up geometric proofs on google or bing or something. They're probably smarter than I am

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks for the help anyways @jadeybells and i will do that @phi but the contradiction proofs look like they are a couple lessons ahead of where im at.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What you can do is look up "geometric proofs" on google search. Khan Academy is confusing anyway.

OpenStudy (phi):

Just watching Sal go through the reasoning is the important part.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright will do, but for some proofs do i have to actually construct the whole thing?

OpenStudy (phi):

when you get good at. But most questions ask you to fill in just a missing part of the proof. That is easier than starting with just the problem.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can i give you an example of one my questions and see how you go through it? Its from a previous quiz I guessed on and got the right answer but I still don't know how to do it. @phi

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Actually I didn't get it right. But it is an old question I don't want it to seem like I am trying to just get answers. @phi

OpenStudy (phi):

sure, but make it a new post. this one is getting long.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright @phi
