Start with the given equation Subtract 4 from both sides. Factor the left side (note: if you need help with factoring, check out this solver) Now solve for x in each case So our answer is x=4 or -1/2

This is how I would solve it. Subtract 4 from each side. You get: -2(2x-7) =-10 Multiply -2 (2x -7) You now get -4x + 14 = -10 Subtract 14 from each side and get -4x = -24 Divide both sides by -4 and get x = 6
