Ok this is probably the silliest question ever asked on OpenStudy...but I need to know if TRESemme is safe to use on horses??? The truth please?! See I have this extremly friendly gelding, Chugger, and I want to give him lots of bathes this summer. His coat is soft from brushing and hours of grooming but his mane and tail are aweful and dry, I don't think its healthy for him to have such bad mane and tail hair. So I wanted to use a conditioner on him. Well I use TRESemme all the time and I wanted to know if this product would work on horses as well...is it safe?

@rose21 @beccaboo333 @AccessDenied @thomaster @Destinymasha ? This is a really awkward question...but do any of you have an answer? Please?

Oh thank you so much!!! Its very appreciated! <3

OpenStudy (rose21):

ur welcome :) glad i can help :)

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

Honestly, I'd just use the mane and tail shampoo and conditioner. It's cheaper and there's more to it. Plus you can use it on yourself as well o-o

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well see thats the thing @beccaboo333 I did use the mane and tail shampoo and conditioner.I used alot of other products that are suppose to help with that, they don't work, he needs something stronger. So I want to try this TRESemme on him because it really works for my hair.

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

Some hair products are meant for humans for a reason. I don't know much about tresemme but some HUMAN products can actually cause irritation to animals skin. If not cause a gross skin infection.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am aware of that. I don't mean any harm to my gelding...I just want to help him. I want to do alot of research on something meant for humans before I put if on him, thanks to rose21 I know now that lots of other have already done this and have had no damage. Thank you for your opinon beccaboo333 (=

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

I can't seem to find anything that gives a real good explaining of tresemme. My only recommendation would be to only do a small test on your horse, wait 48 hours to see if any irritation has occurred. If no irritation happened, then go right to washing your whole horse with it. I've worked with horses before, and their owner used a human hair product and it damaged the mane. Also, yahoo answers isn't 100% reliable. It depends on your horse and their skin type. Not every single horse is the same. So like I had said, do a sample test first. Then wait and see. It'd be worth doing that to make sure nothing bad would happen. :)
