help with french???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You need to be more descriptive with your question or no one will help you because they won't know if they can.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry, okay so the question is 1) Bonjour. Est-ce que tu aimes Noël? Toi: Record your answer. _____________ (Use the preposition l' in your answer.)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that exactly the question? because the question itself is a bit grammatically incorrect.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it looks like this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then here's the rest of it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Could I see your attempt at an answer? I know what it should be, but I need to see you try.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have no clue what im doing to be honest i just started french again i was learning arabic

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you can't do these sentences you should probably be studying a bit more. There's no point in me giving you the answers if you have absolutely no idea what to do.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im taking online classes and my teacher wont even help me but okay thanks for trying anyways

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For the first question, it would be "Oui, je l'aime." Do you understand what that means?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oui means yes and je means me ive never heard ive l'aime but ive heard of j'aime before?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The l' in this context means "it". It look likes you're doing personal pronouns right now.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so you said yes i am, right? because the question said "hello, are you noel?"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Noel means Christmas.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The question is asking, "Hello, do you like Christmas?"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I answered "Yes, I like it."

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhh right aime means like, thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why don't we start by you telling me what you think the questions mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay uhm number 2 i think it mean do you buys gifts for your parents?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

number 3 do you write to santa claus?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

number 4 "do you go to Orlando (i think its a place, right?) during the holidays?"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for number 5 "see you later"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It looks like you have the general gist of what's being said.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I found my old personal pronouns info sheet. This will probably help.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks! so do i answer the questions using je?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for number 2 does this make sense "Oui, j'acheter des cadeaux pour des parents."

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or " je acheter" i think

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for number 3 "Oui, je lui écris." since the question asked to use an indirect object, lui would be the replacement for santa claus

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for number 4 would it be "Oui, il y vas."

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and for number 5 all its says is "see you later" how do you reply to that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

all it says for number 5 is 5) Philippe: A plus tard. Toi: Record your answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You have to use personal pronouns!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so those were all wrong???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not all of them. For the first one, it would be Oui, j'en achete, because you need to use "en".

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

What is this course you are taking? It seems they do not know basic grammar. l' and en are NOT prepositions, they are pronouns! Besides, you do NOT answer Oui, je l'aime to the question Est-ce que tu aimes Noël ? You cannot use a pronoun here, you must repeat the word Noël. Est-ce que tu aimes Noël ? Oui, j'aime Noël. It is a bit sad to see all these mistakes, but anyway, just follow what's on the webpage in order to give the answer they want.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, according the webpage she needs to use l'

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks for the encouragement hahahaha "it is a bit sad"?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the only answer can be Oui, je l'aime.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im learning 2 languages at once and im only 15, i guess it is a bit sad that i dont understand french as easy as you do. @Vincent-Lyon.Fr

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so was number 3 wrong? should i try again?? @greenglasses sorry im usually not this bad at french but this lesson confuses me

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

No3 is "Oui, je lui écris."

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats exactly what i said.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but thanks

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

Well done, then. (sorry, I have not read all the lines, too many of them!)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks and its okay, uhm number four is that one wrong?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hey, don't worry about it. You're still fifteen and it's not like you're in French Immersion or something.

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

What did you answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, it's correct I believe, but it's "il va" not "il vas". (She answered "Il y vas.")

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah the question was

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

No, because you are supposed to answer Philippe's question. So you must answer in the first person (je).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ah, I didn't properly look at the original question. Sorry.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah but how would i answer it using y in the sentence also?

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

Anything introduce by "à" can be replaced by the indefinite pronoun "y". - Est-ce que tu penses à ton avenir ? - Oui, j'y pense. - Est-ce que tu vas au lycée ? - Oui, j'y vais.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would be Oui, j'y vas

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

Oui, j'y vais. (not "vas") I must go now; see you later.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks but wait last question i promise!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for number 5 what does it mean by just "a plus tard"

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

"See you later." You just answer the same. ("See you later") or goodbye (au revoir)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks so much! both of you @Vincent-Lyon.Fr @greenglasses
