HELP with axis of symmetry? Choose the equation below whose axis of symmetry is x = 0. Choose one answer. a. y = x2 + 2x b. y = x2 − 16x + 58 c. y = x2 + 2 d. y = x2 − 4x + 2
a
I was thinking that it's B and I is the objective pronoun. Right ?
it is not A beware of answers with no explanation
My reply dissapered
nvm I'm out.
Well first...x = 0 is just a vertical line at x = 0 correct? So this means at that line (which happens to be the y-axis) there is a graph where the left side looks like a mirror image of the right side
So where would that happen? Each of your choices have x^2 (which is a parabola) But which of your choices has that parabola with the vertex somewhere on the y-axis?
its A because x2 and 2x are identical terms
That is incorrect \[\large x^2 \cancel{=} 2x\]
And graphically that equation would look like |dw:1396875768757:dw|
well in that case it would be C
it would be c rigt? it intercepts at (0,2)
If the line x = 0 is |dw:1396875817603:dw|
