If p(x) = x^2 + 7x + 3 is divided by x + 4, the remainder is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x+3 -9 ...? this is long division, yeah?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think so, my lesson is called The Remainder Theorem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep, cool, its the above then do u know how to do long division on these?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Divide the first term of the numerator by the first term of the denominator, and put that in the answer. Multiply the denominator by that answer, put that below the numerator Subtract to create a new polynomial Repeat, using the new polynomial ignore all the big words above, just do long division like u know, and follow the example on the page either here: http://www.sosmath.com/algebra/factor/fac01/fac01.html or here: http://www.mathsisfun.com/algebra/polynomials-division-long.html srsly tho, easy with practice, give it a go bro
