Is the example a complete sentence, sentence fragment, or run-on sentence? The book is almost five hundred pages long, it will take me at least a week or two to read it. A. sentence fragment B. run-on sentence C. complete sentence
I'm almost sure it's a run-on sentence. Because, I don't see any form of connective device. You have two independent clauses here. The book is almost five hundred pages long. Clause 1 - Independent. It will take me almost a week to finish it. Clause 2 - Independent because "it" was identified in a previous clause. However, given that there is no connective device linking these two clauses, we have a run on sentence. But, if you look at it like this, the comma serves as the only connective device you need, then, you realize it could work as a compound sentence. Which is a complete sentence. Looking over it a second time, I noticed the comma. Since that's there, I'm comfortable declaring this a compound sentence, and therefore, a complete sentence.
