If a line crosses the y-axis at (0, -4) and has a slope of -2, what is the equation of the line?

OpenStudy (kainui):

So you need the equation of a line. You already have one! y=mx+b What is m? That's the slope! What is b? That's the y-intercept. Play around with this equation on your graphing calculator so you can see WHY they call them that. They tell you that the y-intercept is -4 and the slope is -2, so you just need to replace m and b with those values, and you're good!
