Hey i was wondering if i could get some help on Algebra. How can i create two radical equations, one that has an extraneous solution, and one that does not have an extraneous solution. Using this as a model; a√x+b+c=d.

hero (hero):

Replace a,b,c,d with numbers. Play around with different values until you find a set of numbers that support the solutions you are trying to create. It is a matter of trial and error.

Any suggestions I have tried but could not find an extraneous solution.

hero (hero):

What have you tried so far?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2,3,4,5

hero (hero):

Why does it have to use that model?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It was specified in my assignment.

hero (hero):

Okay, I think I have it now Try this: \[\sqrt{5 - x} - 1 = x\]

Thank you!
