OpenStudy (usukidoll):

solve for x first and then solve for y...

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

for the second equation x-y=7 add y to both sides and you'll have x = 7 +y now plug that back into the first equation

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

7+y + 4y = -8 combine like terms 7+5y=-8 subtract 7 on both sides 5y=-8-7 5y=-15 y = -3

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

now plug -3 into the second equation x-(-3) = 7 x +3=7 x = 4

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

@wio do you know the cantor schroder - bernstein theorem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nope, never learned it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not a math major, that is why I always have to ask you definitions so I can learn it on the fly.

OpenStudy (usukidoll):
