Can you help me with a few more? http://prntscr.com/39mog2 http://prntscr.com/39mokz http://prntscr.com/39mon6

OpenStudy (ankitshaw):

que 2 its option 1 since y<= 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For the first one, just pretend that the inequality is just an equal sign. How would you solve for y?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The next two are the exact same as I did. Simply add the required constant to each side. The last one you multiply by 5 on each side. But be careful, because if you ever multiply or divide by a negative, you HAVE to switch the inequality. Just not in this case.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks but i don't get what you do in the last question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's the same thing. If the inequality were an equal sign, what would you do? The same rules apply unless multiplying or dividing by a negative number.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just came over seas so this stuff is hard for me to understand but i will try

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you solve for y if y - 8 = 7? If so, it is the same rules. If not we can help you with that as well.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah i dont know this stuff :/ Can you help me by giving me the answers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

...it will be better for you to understand how to find the answer. You must put each inequality in a simple form by isolating the variable (x or y). To do this you can MUST treat each side the same way, otherwise you disrupt the inequality.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is there a good website to learn this stuff i don't understand this :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well to solve for y you have to isolate y. In the example I provided above, you must add 8 to both sides. This will get rid of the 8 that is with the y, since -8 + 8 = 0. You must add 8 to BOTH sides in order for this to work: y - 8 = 7 y - 8 + 8 = 7 + 8 y = 15 I can try to look for a website if you'd like.

https://www.khanacademy.org/ I have heard great things about khan academy, and they have every level of math. I highly suggest you give it a look, and from what I know it is completely free.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I will try to learn it after i finish this test i just need to get back on track with my work so i can go back and study them. Is it ok if you can give me the answers for the questions and i can study this after i finish and get back on track with my work

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@sylbot beat me to it whoops

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For the first one try adding 6 to both sides. This will isolate the y-value.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok
