26+31 (mod6) how can I answer this problem?

OpenStudy (kmeis002):

When you see mod(6) that means you are looking for the remainder if you divided by 6. 26+31 = 57 but 57 (mod 6) is asking, what is the remainder if I divide by 6? so \[ 57 \mod(6) \equiv 3\] since 6*9 = 54 and 3 more will get you to 57. Note, we call this congruence in modulo systems and if you have a mod n, it can never be greater than n . Its easy if we visualize a clock with 6 numbers.|dw:1397500520401:dw|
