What is the softening point (polymers)?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

the softening point is defined as the temp at which some polymer changes or distorts itself. For instance, plastics such as thermoplastics and thermosetting plastics, in otherwords, synthetic vs. nonsynthetic or semi-synthetic. Also, glass, which is a polymer, but an inorganic polymer. Is there a particular type of polymer you are referring to?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Much like solids, plastics and glasses also have a few phase changes which you can diagram, i believe. I have not worked with phases and softening point of polymers, more so familiar with organic polymers, less knowledgable with inroganic polymers, like glass: polysiloxanes (glass).

Thanks. I get it now!
