Factor the following trinomial: 3x^2 − xy − 52y^2

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

same as before 3 x -52 = -156 find the factors of -156 that add to -1 so -13 and 12 so its (3x +12y)(3x - 13) ---------------- 3 you can finish from here

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

oops should be -13y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

uhh, not sure if I did it correctly, but I got: \[\frac{ 3(x+4y)x(3-13y) }{ 3 }\]

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

almost, 3 from the 1st binomial is correct... byt x isn't a common factor in the 2nd binomial the solution is (x + 4y)(3x - 13y)

Thank you so much ! :)
