Anatomy study group?
> biology
Not exactly the same @thomaster .
Anatomy is a subdiscipline of biology @primeralph
What about the Health Science section..
Only superficially. Just like Engineering is a subset of Physics. That doesn't mean Physicists can immediately tackle all Engineering problems.
If you've been there, you'll understand better.
If you see it that way, biology would be a subset of physics too, since physics is the study of nature. Physicist can't tackle all engineering problems, but biologist can tackle anatomy problems.
Not from memory. (plus, there isn't really anything to tackle; just memorization) Your profile says you know Biology; where would you find fungiform papillae in the body? Now that's anatomy.
..........and then the Histology and so on.....
tongue... but the point is, anatomy is closely related to biology. Therefore it is not necessary to create a separate section for it. Between physics and engineering there is a much larger distance. They're different subjects in every school. Most biology subjects in school cover anatomy and do not have a separate subject for it (we're talking about highschools here). Not to mention that an anatomy group would be a dead section.
The gap is much wider than you think. And who said @love_jessika15 was in high school?
@thomaster I was never talking about high school level anatomy.
btw, where to find some fungi in the body? sounds more like microbiology to me than anatomy. When I think about anatomy in school, i'd think about location of organs, bones, muscles that sort of stuff.
The target group of this website is high school students
That explains why it's been so boring. You guys should expand your base.
The more advanced educated group's retention isn't that high due to all the trolling and immaturity on the site. First we would need to get rid of that in order to expand the target group to college and university grade.
Not to be the KnowItAll guy here, but: In my opinion, the first step should be to control how easily people can sign up; with adequate verification methods. The ease of making an account makes OpenStudy look desperate for users (and also facilitates trolling). Also, you'll need more than Latex and basic drawing for better teaching.
The admins first priority is gaining more members. Within a few months, there will be new features implemented to prevent trolling/spamming. Personally I'd do this in reversed order but then again I'm not an admin.
Let's not go further off topic, we were talking about an anatomy study group c:
It's hard to filter the bad accounts from the good ones after you let the all in. But I get your point. All good. Yeah, if you can get her and whoever else some way for Med folks to talk about stuff, it'll be nice. I know some kids on here looking into Med too.
Yea, so anyways an anatomy study group would be amazing c: It would defiantly interest me and many other people who are looking into a medical career.
A subgroup within biology could do though
You want Health Science ! :)
There already is a Health Science group. http://openstudy.com/study#/groups/Health%20Sciences
